So, haven't done one in a while. Decided it was time, because I feel like talking about something that's very close to my heart...


WOLVERINE.

Mmm.

*Here be a warnin': SPOILERS AHEAD*

Anywho, saw the movie opening day, first showing at 1:00 in the afternoon - done school early this year, going to do a coop in THAILAND for marine conservation, but that's a whole 'nother story - and went with some friends to see X-Men Origins: Wolverine. I had been waiting for this movie for EVER, mainly because I LOVE Hugh Jackman and I LOVE X-Men and Wolverine is my favourite character. Anywhozer... So basically I'm gonna give you my opinion or ratings of the movie, but on a couple different levels.

1) Sticking to original storyline: -10 (out of 10)

OH MY LORDY how they strayed. I actually winced at some parts, completely blown away at how they connected this and that and changed so much. I'll list a few:

- Wolverine and Sabretooth are brothers (wtf?)
- Silver Fox is NOT aboriginal
- Silver Fox is Emma Frost's sister (WTF) and supposedly Emma can only do her diamond skin? No telepathic powers (WTF)
- the fact that Emma Frost and Scott Summers are included in this... wouldn't they have been like... toddlers at this point in time?
- Remy LeBeau does NOT have a Cajun accent (I was really disappointed in this one... one of the small things I was looking forward to)
- Dominic Monaghan was originally thought to be casted as the character Barnell Bohusk (Beak) but then they changed it him to Chris Bradley (Bolt), wasn't used much, then just killed him anyways
- Deadpool never wore his Deadpool costume. Ever.
- Silver Fox was supposedly "in" on everything, she is not killed/raped by Sabretooth
- Logan loses his memory (get this) by being shot in the head twice with adamantium bullets by Stryker - not being erased by Weapon X during his procedure
- Some final sort of mutant that Stryker's trying to come up with (Weapon 11) ends up being, like... Deadpool who looks like a zombie, no mouth, two katana blades coming from his middle knuckles (like Logan's claws), teleportation like Kestrel, healing, and laser blasts from his eyes. W T F.

Essentially, this whole movie (in regards to doing the original story line justice) was a big WHAT THE FUCK.

So basically, in the beginning credits, they flip through the wars Logan and Victor go through and go really briefly through the whole Weapon X team thing, and most of the movie is Wolverine trying to find Sabretooth but then getting help/finding information from other mutants, and then the big ole' action/destruction scene at the end. What they could have done, if they were actually planning to do the REAL origins of Wolverine instead of just a movie, would to focus on his different parts of life as he grew up, spending time on his early life, growing up with Rose, the wars, then get into Weapon X, a couple missions, and then his procedure where he loses his memory and maybe some other stuff. I DON'T KNOW, I just know that they effed up the entire story line and I'm a little annoyed by it.


What I did like:
- Ryan Reynolds could not have played a better Deadpool - if only they had him in the movie longer.
- will i am was surprisingly pretty good as a laid-back Kestrel
- Blob was funny, liked him
- Liev Schreiber played a pretty good Sabretooth, loved his voice
- As little a part he played, Agent Zero was good too
- Really good looking actors
- HUGH JACKMAN IS RIPPED. <3


On another level, would OTHER people (as in who don't know the series, etc) like it?: 6/7 (out of 10)

Well, I'd say sure, if you like super heroes and action. Obviously they wouldn't know that the plot line is different that it originally is, so they'd enjoy it as the movie that it is.


And did I like it?: 9 (out of 10)

Well, yeah. Putting aside the story line changes, I really did like it. I really liked it because it is X-Men, because it is about Wolverine, and because I've been waiting for a while. I still smiled like an idiot the whole way through, still squealed and gasped at parts, because I'm a fan. And irked and winced at some parts, but... anywho.



On another note, I'm done school early and will be going on a placement in Krabi, Thailand for marine conservation. I took open water scuba diving lessons earlier last month so that, even though down there they do provide lessons, when I do get down there, I can just start working. I'm VERY excited and cannot wait to get to Thailand!
